ABOUT TMC
Tirupati Municipality Was Constituted On 01.04.1886 And It Was Upgraded As IInd grade muncipality On 01.10.1962.Tirupati Municipality is Upgraded into Various grades As Follows:
First Grade Municipality:: vide G.O.Ms.No.1236 MA.dt:12.01.1965
Special Grade Municipality:: vide G.O.Ms.No.100 MA.dt:13.02.1970
Selection Grade Municipality:: vide G.O.Ms.No.537 MA.dt:07.10.1998
Tirupati Municipality was Upgraded As Municipal Corporation On 02.03.2007 Vide G.O.Ms.No.128 M.A. dt:02.03.2007 Area Of The Muncipal Corporation is 16.59 sq.Kms.
History :
Tirupati is a Vibrant Pilgrim town located in Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh,
dramatically sited at the foot of bluff red sand stone that marks the Tirumala Hills.
It has closed link to two metros i.e., Chennai and Bangalore at a distance of 150
KMs & 258 KMs. Tirupati town itself is focused on the Govindaraja swamy temple
(16-17th Century) with the streets of town laid on the East- West axis, with the
temple at the centre and surrounded by Sri Padmavathi Temple, Tiruchanoor, Sri Kodanda
Ramaswamy Temple and RamaChandra Koneru, Kapilatheeratham, Agastheeswara Temple
at Thondavada (Mukkoti), Srinivasa Mangapuram. Tirupati, foothill town of Tirumala
hills and the abode of Lord Venkateswara, a pilgrim place is visited by over 180
lakh devotees annually. Municipal Corporation spread over an area of 24.00 sq.km
with 20 Revenue Wards and 50 Election wards with 42 Poor slums
